We had a friend from California stop by and stay overnight with us last week (great to see you, DM!). Our guest room in this apartment is also our living room, which at the moment is rather lacking in decorations and furniture. Also, our windows have no curtains or anything else to use in order to add some privacy and/or block out the morning light.
Variations on a swan
Well, specifically it’s really variations on a photo of a swan in Neckar River. I don’t know why there are swans that hang out on the Neckar River, but there are. However, only occasionally are they in the part on the side of the bridge where I’m standing to take my photos. Continue reading
Friday Followups
Today I wanted to follow-up on a couple of odds and ends, things that won’t make a full blog post on their own.
The tower in view
I promised a couple of weeks ago to get back with more info about that missing tower that I said should have been in the “postcard shot” of the Neckar River in Tübingen.

Mostly more from Munich
A quick update on the boxes: in a fit of organizational skills we didn’t know we possessed, we unpacked and put away the contents of 20 boxes last night. Well, put away as much as we could; our large armoire has not arrived, so some really heavy winter clothing we luckily don’t quite need yet will remain in boxes for the time being. Continue reading
This just in
In addition to the boxes that we sent to ourselves right when we left Bolzano, we also had 33 more boxes of stuff that needed to get from Bolzano to Tübingen. I’m happy to report that all of them are now sitting in our pretty much otherwise empty living room at the moment. 🙂
A Pocket Omelet
Here in Tübingen, one of the local Schwabian specialties that appears on almost all of the menus is something called Maultaschen. Maultaschen are large filled squares of pasta which look like gigantic, overly plump ravioli. Typically these are filled with either minced meat or a veggie and cheese mixture; they are usually served with a light gravy over top, or else floating in a simple broth as a soup. Continue reading
