For each town we’ve lived in, Chris and I have been able to locate a commercially available postcard with an aerial view of the town. The aerial view we look for crucially shows the part of town where we live.Chris’ trick is then to use a pin to make a small hole over our house/apartment building and send it to folks who are interested. By holding the postcard with the pinprick to the light, you can see a “spotlight” on our house.
We attempted to do that for our house in Tübingen. We’re living smack dab in the middle of the historic city center, so we were certain that they must have an “aerial view of Tübingen” postcard somewhere.
So far, however, we haven’t located one.
But when we were up at the top of the hill at the castle in town a week or so ago, Chris did spot a location on where, from the balcony of the castle, you can see our building:
If you look closely behind the building you can see the steeple of the church-that’s-not-a-church.
BTW, if you print out one of the photos, and then use that pinprick trick, it will be almost like getting a aerial view postcard from us showing our house in Tübingen. 😉
That orange arrow is a good marker. Will the town’s fathers hang it up there for all to see.:)
when i come i hope to see that light Chris is talking about like a beacon that shoots up in the air. Your first picture could not be enlarged. Phone bank done, whooo. Wind is wicked and the Indian summer I think took off tonight. Last week it was very cold, frost has been here for about a week and snow is inevitable. Resistance is futile.
Oh, I was supposed to *print* the picture before sticking a pin through it?! Rats!
