As promised, today on Monday Mysteries we take a look at a photo I ran across at the Library of Congress last month that has raised some questions in my mind for future exploration. Continue reading
Food on Fridays: Happy Hot Dog Month!
Happy Fourth of July to all our friends and family in the U.S., sent from us in Tübingen, Germany, home to a currently trendy food item: American hot dogs. Continue reading
A trip to the LOC
I’ve been using the Library of Congress Photo Archives a lot recently to find copies of photos by early 20th century American women photographers. The LOC has a fair number of works by those women available, many of which have been digitized and made available online. That’s been very handy. Continue reading
More from Marlton
I just realized that I have a few more interesting photos from that same pond at the Weston complex that I posted about yesterday. Continue reading
Secret World of the Weston
My parents moved to the Weston apartment complex in Marlton, NJ 10 years ago, so Chris and I have been visiting this place for 10 years. But it wasn’t until our visit a couple of weeks ago that that I saw a reflective world at the Weston. Continue reading
Monday Mysteries: Unexpected find along the way
Welcome back to Two to Tü! Despite my best-laid plans, I never did get anything posted last week while Chris and I were in the U.S. Ah well. I wound up spending a couple of days going down to DC from Baltimore and doing some research in the Library of Congress (LOC) photographic archives, which led to the discovery of the subject of today’s Monday Mystery. Continue reading
Flashbacks and Followups
Today on Two to Tübingen we have two flashbacks and two followups. Continue reading
Private Cars
Chris and I went to Rovereto, a town about an hour by train north of Verona, to visit friends one day a couple of weeks ago. Since we were staying in Verona, we had to decide: take the a train operated by Trenitalia, the Italian train company, or take a train operated jointly by Deutsche Bahn (DB) and ÖBB, the German and Austrian companies. Continue reading

When it’s rainy in Reykjavik
There’s an expression in Reykjavik that if you don’t like the weather just wait 5 minutes and it’s bound to change. That was true to a certain extent last week, although the change was usually from cloudy to rainy to cloudy to rainy to very rarely a patch of blue sky to cloudy to rainy.
One local store that sold outdoor clothing advertised themselves as being local, and therefore truly understanding the needs of Icelanders, who know that a June day can go from sunny to blizzard within a few minutes. I read that and told myself that at least we were there in May, not June. 😉
Anyway, one potential advantage to the rainy/cloudy/partly sunny weather coming on quite fast it that it does create conditions ripe for a rainbow. While it only happened once, and just for a few minutes on our next to the last day, I can honestly say that when it’s rainy in Reykjavik, you can sometimes see a rainbow. The gallery below has a few photos of it as it really looked; plus there’s a bonus one that I created just for fun.
Enjoy!
P.S. This coming week is a holiday in this part of German, to celebrate the Catholic holiday of Pentecost. Chris is taking tomorrow off so we can get an early start on a week-long vacation, so the blog will be on hiatus until Monday, June 16th. See you then!
