When it’s rainy in Reykjavik

There’s an expression in Reykjavik that if you don’t like the weather just wait 5 minutes and it’s bound to change.  That was true to a certain extent last week, although the change was usually from cloudy to rainy to cloudy to rainy to very rarely a patch of blue sky to cloudy to rainy.

One local store that sold outdoor clothing advertised themselves as being local, and therefore truly understanding the needs of Icelanders, who know that a June day can go from sunny to blizzard within a few minutes. I read that and told myself that at least we were there in May, not June. 😉

Anyway, one potential advantage to the rainy/cloudy/partly sunny weather coming on quite fast it that it does create conditions ripe for a rainbow. While it only happened once, and just for a few minutes on our next to the last day,  I can honestly say that when it’s rainy in Reykjavik, you can sometimes see a rainbow. The gallery below has a few photos of it as it really looked; plus there’s a bonus one that I created just for fun.

Enjoy!

P.S. This coming week is a holiday in this part of German, to celebrate the Catholic holiday of Pentecost. Chris is taking tomorrow off so we can get an early start on a week-long vacation, so the blog will be on hiatus until Monday, June 16th. See you then!
