Frankfurt: A city of locks and water colors

So if I had a Wednesday series, and if that series were called “Wandering Wednesdays”, then today’s post might actually fit with that series.

Although … while the post is being written on a Wednesday, the photos were actually taken last weekend when we went a-wandering, as it were, and made a quick overnight trip to Frankfurt to visit friends who used to live in Bolzano.

We spent most of the time visiting with them in their very cute apartment, so I didn’t take very many photos that show you what Frankfurt looks like.  However,  we did head downtown to go to a restaurant Saturday night, and near there we were able to get a nighttime view of city’s skyline along the Main River, which is included in the gallery below.

BTW, this seems like as good time as any to note that the proper name of the city is actually Frankfurt am Main, “Frankfurt on the Main River.”

Anyway, the panorama shot was taken from a pedestrian bridge that was loaded with some of those locks of love that are all so many bridges. So, there are some photos of those as well.

Then on Sunday morning we went for a walk on the outskirts of town, along the river, which led to a pond.  That’s where I took some “water colors” — i.e. photos of the colors (or lack thereof) of the water.

My blog post title isn’t serious, of course: Frankfurt is much more (I’m sure) than locks of love and impressions of water.  But that’s what I saw and took photos of during  our visit to Frankfurt this past weekend.

Enjoy. 😉
