Iceland in my darkroom

I haven’t yet sorted through all the photos I took on that Golden Circle tour, so today I’ll offer a few photos I took in Reykjavik.   These photos were taken just steps from the fancy new award-winning convention center (not pictured), which is on the water. Chris’ conference was in the convention center, so I walked over there with him each morning, and I took these on a morning that was clear — albeit not very sunny. From the conference center Chris could see the mountains and the water, but not the “lobster boat” (you’ll see what I mean by that in the photos below).

I should note, however, that I have greatly enhanced the contrast of  light and dark in these photos in my digital darkroom on the computer. As a result — with no other alterations made in these photos, i.e.  no colorizing, no adding/subtracting of anything — the scenes seem a lot more interesting in these photos than I found them in person. I think the gray skies really contributed to a rather flat light when I was there in person last week; I like my scenic views a little more “brilliant” (i.e. with more light/dark contrast) than reality provided last week.

In any case, enjoy these views of Iceland — as they are seen in my “digital darkroom.”

BTW, be sure to click on them to get the larger versions. I think you’ll need that to spot the cat that snuck into my photo of the mountains and water. 🙂

  1. That sneaky cat, guess he likes being photographed. I will think there are lots of fish for him to eat there.

Like all the pics and the one of the boat reminds me of something the Vikings might have used. I can see men sitting in it with their oars.:)

  2. I like your pictures of the bay and the mountains and I especially liked your picture of the “dream” boat; so much so I made a copy of it also!
