I went to a place called The Photographers Gallery in London, which showcases British photographers. They had a great bookstore for books about photography, a lovely cafe where a guy made a very good Latte coffee drink, and, of course, a few photography exhibits.
For me the top floor gallery was unexpected interesting. As I was looking at some photos on the wall of the gallery, I happened to glance over and look out of the window. Seeing the view, I thought to myself, hmm, now that could make for an interesting photo.
As I thought that to myself, I suddenly head a voice actually saying it. For a split second, I wondered if I was losing my mind, or if I’d actually said that out loud, since I thought I’d been alone in the room at the time.
But fortunately, when I turned slightly I saw that a woman had quietly come into the gallery after me, and she was the one who had just said it aloud.
Two minds with a single thought. But only one of us carrying a camera…
Below you can see the photo I took of the view. I have quickly cropped the photo, but haven’t done much else to it yet. The shape of the building on the right was what first caught my eye. I’ve included a version that is horizontal, too; depending on the size of your monitor, the horizontal copy might help you spot the car, the bicyclist and other details off on the road in distance that caught my eye beyond the building. Plus, in that view you get a better look at the reflections of the green leaves on those triangles parts of the side of the building on the right.
However, for once, I don’t really intend for the photo really to be viewed in the horizontal orientation – my idea for the photo is the vertical version.
Anyway, see if you agree that the view made for an interesting photo. 😉 Again, the horizontal is only to make it easier to spot a few details in the distance, which might be too small on your monitor. I’ve made the file size bigger than normal: click on each photo to view it by itself in a new window; click it again in that window to see it at maximum size (if it isn’t already).
Have a good weekend. More from London coming soon …
Both orientations have nice geometry. Here’s hoping for one of them you weren’t lying down on the job.
Thanks, Will. Cute. 😉
