Last night’s opening of my Reflections photography show was great fun and as promised, today’s post has the photos Chris took of the exhibit and the opening.
Tonight at 7pm…
… was the opening of my photo show here in Tübingen! It was great fun. 20-30 people (our neighbors, Chris’ colleagues, and some of the people from my language class and their friends) all turned out to see the photos. Many thanks to all of them, plus the owners of the language school for putting on the show! Continue reading
Lamplight
Here’s a photo is of a phenomenon that Chris noticed while I was snapping some other shots in Verona last week. The sun happened to catch the lamppost globes in just the right way that it “lit” the lamppost lights, which of course weren’t actually on, since it was broad daylight at the time: Continue reading
Lucky You
German class started again this morning. My class has people from around the world, so it was fun when we went around the room saying what the traditions in different countries are (if any) for things you need to do on New Year’s Eve to ensure good luck in the coming year. Here’s a quick list of what I jotted down: Continue reading
Stella!

Starting the year off with a bang
At midnight on New year’s Eve in Verona, they set off fireworks above L’Arena, the 2000-year-old Roman amphitheatre. We’d never seen that before, but timed our visit right this year to check it out. The fireworks lasted for a full 15 minutes – impressive! Continue reading
Of toadstools, drugs, and magic reindeer
Welcome to 2012 at Two to Tübingen. Chris and I managed to get away during the past week, and I’m still sorting through my photos and notes to add to the blog. I hope to have some of them ready to go starting tomorrow. Thanks for all the comments on the blog posts last week; I’ll be following up on most of the comments and questions later this week, as well. But I do want to follow up on one today, one is connected to toadstools that come with a bit of a kick.
Reflection in Tübingen
New Year’s Day falls on a Sunday this year, which means that today will be my final post of 2011. So, let me be the first to wish you Guten Rutsch! That’s the expression we’ve heard people say around here to wish people a Happy New Year. Continue reading
You lucky mushroom!
Chris happened to run across the expression Glückspiltz! the other day. Literally translated, it means “You lucky mushroom”. It’s used like the English expression “You lucky devil”, or “You lucky dog.” Continue reading
Bedroom Furniture: Revealed!
I know people have been asking me for a while to post some photos of all the furniture that we spent all fall chasing after. Well, just last week we finally got the tables (big and small) that were the last major piece of the furniture puzzle for the apartment. So it seems about time I start posting some photos. Today, let’s take a look at the bedroom furniture. Continue reading
