Chris and I were up earlier than usual yesterday to get to the train station, since Chris had a talk to give in another town. We passed a girl of about 10 standing on the street, calling up to the woman in a top floor window, Nicht vergessen! Du bist dort … um 11 Uhr! (“Don’t forget – be there at 11am!”) Continue reading
Fountain Fun
Today I have a recent photo of a favorite fountain of mine here in Tübingen. I pass this fountain frequently on the way to Chris’ office. Continue reading
9 vs 7?
I had never given this matter any thought: why do we say in the U.S. that cats have “9” lives? Is that based on some particular myth? Why 9, and not 7, for example? Or why not less? Continue reading
A Visit to Bebenhausen
Today we finally get to visit Bebenhausen here on Two to Tü. Approaching Storm
As I walked by the postcard shot spot this afternoon, I was struck by the gathering clouds over the church steeple; it had been clear and sunny not 10 minutes before. I don’t know why, but the rapidly changing weather continues to bemuse me, even though it has happened more often than not the past few weeks here in Tübingen.
The Icemen Cameth
So last week I told you that our unseasonably warm weather at the beginning of May was threatened by the coming of the “Icemen of May”, who (can) bring unseasonably cold weather in the period between May 11th and May 14th. At least, that’s the legend.
An Enlightening Day
Chris and I have been meaning to get a floor lamp for the living room for months now. Continue reading
Ice Men of May
Today it was a balmy 80ºF/ 27ºC (or more) in Tübingen. Seems like summer is here, eh? Well, before leaping to that conclusion we must recall that today is May 10th, and that the Ice Men of May may arrive starting tomorrow.
