Chris and I went out to dinner last night with a couple of friends; since they had a car, we went to a German restaurant that was about a 30 minute drive away. Continue reading
Catching a whiff
I have owned a Victorinox Swiss Army knife for 30 years. I’d wanted one as a teenager — I would see an animated display of a giant one opening, closing and spinning around in the shop every time I went to the mall as a I teenager, and I wanted one. I mean, how could you resist all those gadgets in one little gizmo: there was not just a flat-head screwdriver, but also a Phillips head one! A can opener! Tiny scissors! Tweezers! A corkscrew! Perspectives on 1066
I realize the title of the post may sound like it’s a research paper on different ways of thinking about the Battle of Hastings in 1066, since when I hear 1066 that’s what I think of. However, the post is really presenting different ways I processed a photo numbered 1066 in my digital darkroom the other day. Continue reading
If Elvis had been Austrian
Schlager music, as you may recall from a previous post, is a particular kind of Germanic pop music that’s been around since the 1950s. I find it hard to pin down, and therefore I can’t quite relate it to a particular American music style: Continue reading
