Star for the day

Today is January 6, which is the Christian feast day of Epiphany. In parts of Germany, including here in Tübingen, it is a public holiday. Now, according to the Wikipedia entry for Epiphany, it’s only a public holiday in 3 of the federal German states. I’m not sure if I trust Wikipedia on this topic, though, because another thing in the Wikipedia article says that Germans have a special pastry that they eat on Epiphany. The orange and spice pastry that’s described sounds good, but I’ve certainly not been seeing it in bakeries around here, so I’m not sure it’s eaten everywhere in Germany on Epiphany.

Ah well. At least I have a star photo to mark the occasion:

Star!

Star!

Enjoy.

  1. Thanks, Stan! That’s a red star-shaped lantern in a store window; I took it so that the surrounding area was deliberately a bit dark, and then I used my “digital darkroom” to darken it a bit more, and also to take out the wire that was suspending it from the ceiling. This photo is how I pictured being able to “fix” it in the darkroom when I took it. Now you know my tricks! 😉
