Here and there

Here and there … that’s going to describe where Chris and I are going to be the rest of this month. We’re travelling a bit in Germany – Chris is an invited speaker at a conference, then after a break back in Tübingen it will be a quick dash to the U.S., and then back to Tübingen, followed by another German city where Chris will give yet another invited talk. Congratulations, Chris – you’re in demand!

Anyway, that’s a long-winded way of saying that the next few weeks will see a bit of a hiatus here on Two to Tü, since I’m never certain what kind of internet access I will have. If I have access, and I’m really able to sort some photos on the iPad (something new for me to try), I’ll try to post an update here and there, as we roam from here to there, and back again.

BTW, today is International Women’s Day, which is a big holiday in many places in the world, including Italy, which I wrote about when we lived in Bolzano. However, it hasn’t been a big holiday in any other place I’ve lived in the past decade, including here in Tübingen. And so it was a coincidence that today my Spanish poet friend, Maribel, and I  — two women — finished a final draft of our photo/poetry book. Our working title had been Poética. We have re-christened the project Poetiʞa. Here’s our current design for the cover.

BTW, That’s an upside down and backwards “k” in the name – fitting, for a project that uses many of my flipped photos, including that one in the cover design. Thanks to Maribel for the idea for the “k” and Chris for knowing that a turned around “k” is actually a character you can type.

The project, which combines my photos with Maribel’s poetry, has now reached a major milestone: we’ve gotten a  draft finally ready to send out in search of a publisher. It was a great way to close out the week.

And in Italy, yellow flowers are the symbol of International Women’s Day. That cover is pretty yellow, so it seemed fitting, somehow, to put in today’s blog post.

Check back periodically over the next few weeks – I’ll try to post updates when I can. Regular blog posts will resume next month, on April 15th. See you then!

  1. What a great first step. Congrats to u both.

Cover is an eye catcher. Stunning.

  2. I have tried to make a backwards “k” but I can only make half of it. I can make an “>” but I can’t get a vertical touching line with either an l or an i or #1. What is the secret?
