I love seeing the Stella Cometa, and normally photograph it from the side. This photo, as well as the next one, illustrate some of my challenges when trying to take a photo of it straight on. Since I didn’t’ have a tall tripod, I was using Chris’ little tripod over on a bench, which meant I necessarily had to be at an angle. So, the lamppost got in the way. As did all the people, of course.
BTW, if you look closely under the right-hand side of the star, you can spot a guy dressed up as Pinocchio posing for/wish tourists. He made loud noises to attract attention at times, which was mildly annoying. He wasn’t nearly as annoying as another street performer dressed up as a baby in a baby carriage, who “cried like a baby” all day long. He was very popular – the Pinocchio moderately so. Technically, he wanted you to pay him to take a photo of him, but I figured since he chose to set up under the star, he was going to be in my photo no matter what I did, so I didn’t feel like I had to pay him. Of course, he had moved from his original spot, next to that annoying “crying baby” guy, so I guess I really couldn’t blame him for seeking another location.
