The Many Faces of a Fountain

Well, I’m using “face” here in a general, non literal sense, to mean the changing look of the fountain. Except in one instance, that is, as you’ll see when you look at the photos below.

All photos in the gallery today are of that same fountain that was pictured yesterday (I’ve repeated that photo in this set as well, for comparison, since the other photos aren’t of the full fountain the way yesterday’s was).  What I love about this fountain is that it provides an endless set of possibilities for photography, at least until the turn the water off for the winter.

BTW, while I have taken many photos of this fountain over the past months, all of the photos included today were taken within the past week. This post is actually a preview of the set of photos I will be showing tomorrow at our photography group meeting. The topic this week is fountains.

And no, I really didn’t pick the theme. 😉

  1. Fountains are favorites and you also capture great shots of the water flowing forth.

  2. I think that you are working on the 21 words to define a fountain, somewhat like the way the Inuit are suppose to have many words of snow. Love these pictures. I do enjoy the different shots. the face looks like a Brancusi’s Sleeping Muse, or a child’s rendering of a face. I like the Sleeping Muse.

  3. Just when I think I have seen every picture of a fountain I want to see, you come up with some new, and striking and beautiful. The only thing better than your dancing white ribbons of water was the same thing in blue. They are lovely!

  4. Thanks for the feedback – glad everyone enjoyed the photos! I do like to find new and interesting ways to take photos of fountains! Kathy, I like your idea about the 21 words to define a fountain – that sounds like it would be a good theme for an exhibition. I may think about that more for my photography website as I work on it this fall.
