Today on Food on Fridays, in honor of today being Halloween, we take a look at spiders, their webs, and their dinner. If you don’t like spiders, don’t read any further, as there are photos of spiders below.
Now this is not exactly the regular kind of Food on Fridays I usually write. But there have been some incredible spider webs around here recently. Tübingen in the autumn actually seems to be prone to have them — you might recall there were some that I photographed back when we first moved to Tübingen. So, since spiders and their large webs seemed particularly appropriate for Halloween, and there is some spider food — i.e. flies caught in the web — in a couple of the photos.
See what you think. I’ll also leave you with a couple of links to songs from the Broadway musical Kiss of the Spider Woman, including the title number as well as a song and dance with hats and canes. As you watch that second number, note that Chita Rivera was at least 60 years old at the time – and she did that 8 shows a week! Amazing, eh? Consider it food for thought, for a Food on Friday post. 😉
And to everyone in North America, Happy Halloween!
