Food on Fridays Eclipsed

Today is Friday, which should mean a post about food. However, we’re still mired in the minutia of sorting and doing paperwork for exiting out of Germany at the end of the month, and I haven’t had time to write the food post. Also, my apologies for not having much time in general  for blogging this week. Thanks to all of you for the comments and emails; I’ll need to response to your comments and  also to answer your questions next week.

Anyway, since this morning there was a partial eclipse here in Germany, I’ll at least offer a quick glimpse of the event, as seen through our blinds in our living room. Our blinds — when closed — have little circles that let in interesting shadow patterns normally. As a bonus, they also became an effective pinhole camera of a sort with which to view the eclipse. Thus the photos in the gallery below offer a few quick  — and unedited — peeks at what it looked like this morning in our apartment during the eclipse.

And as Chris pointed out, the sun took on a half-moon and then crescent shape during the eclipse, which makes it just a  a hop, skip and jump to get to croissants … or mezzaluna (half-moon shaped) pasta.  Which sort of makes this post eligible to be called a Food on Fridays post.

Well, sort of.

Enjoy.

  1. We are having snow, with low visibility so I guess I won’t see anything. Nothing like snow as winter exits.:) The woods are beautiful and not a blade of grass can be seen. Supposedly the roads are okay. Since I can’t see any from my vantage point I will believe what I hear on the news.

  2. Transcendent! #2 made me gasp in awe.

Could you possibly pack up those blinds and take them with you? But they’d be nothing without your artist’s eye..

  3. we are unable to see eclipse here on this side of the pond. Your photos are unique and offer the best view. They would make interesting pieces in a collage of your photos. Paper work and me are like north and south magnets. So I can empathize with you. I’d rather pull my own tooth, but am forced to do it. I am glad I don’t have to move again any where.
