“Photo-Based Art” is where you start with a photo and then do something to it/with it to turn it into a different kind of art. Some of Chris’ digital artwork is of this type, where he will start with a photograph he’s taken, and then turn it into a different image using a computer program that’s written, etc.
My photos below, though are not photo-based art. Rather, they are photos based on art. I took them at the Pompidou museum in Paris, using as my starting point for each photo a piece of an artwork I liked. These photos don’t really show off the artworks, though. Instead, I was tempted/inspired to try to creatively use a little bit of the artwork as the subject of my photo.
“Photo based art”, then, instead of “photo-based art”. See what you think.
Powerful, captivating, inspired, …! The right words are hard to come by, … and yet you found great titles for these gems as well!
Thanks, Will – the words you found were fabulous! 🙂
I love “Extensions” — perfectly balanced.

I like “Extensions” also because of the energy and the flow.
