Better photos with any camera

Last week Chris and I were walking down our street, and we passed by a nice, reflective puddle. I remarked it would make a good photo, but I’d only brought the cell phone along with me, so I wasn’t going to bother.  Ever since I got that smart phone with the camera, and discovered it takes decent “documentary” photos, I’ve found it easier to just put that in my bag as I wander around town doing errands, rather than also carrying the compact little camera I used to use always carry. I haven’t been using the smart phone camera for any other kind of more ambitious photos lately, though.

Of course, no sooner had I commented that I only had the phone camera with me,   Chris countered that he’d heard it was possible to take “better photos with any camera.”

Cute. Right, that’s my theme for most of the workshops I teach.  And I do think that really, if you take your time, you can take a decent photo with any camera.

Fair enough.  Challenge accepted.

So below is a photo of that puddle and its puddle world reflection. Plus, the next day I was inspired to take a few shots of a fountain and the water patterns in it. So, I’ve included a few of those as well.

“Better photos with any camera”? Well, here are a few examples.  See what you think.

P.S. Now go back and take another look at yesterday’s post.  Those puddle photos — which were  taken while I was wandering around doing my errands yesterday — were actually all taken with the cell phone camera as well.
