The label for the fragment of the relief of a figure, mounted on the wall of the Pergamon, seemed to be indicating — in German — that the guy pictured was an Assyrian genius. A genius with a beard.
So Chris called me over to have his photo taken side by side with that figure, saying that it would be a picture of two bearded geniuses.
Right.
Looking up more information on the Internet just now, though, Chris discovered that we probably both misread the label. What it more likely said was that the figure depicts an Assyrian Winged Genie, although this fragment does not show the genie’s wings.
So I guess my photo is not a photo of two geniuses after all. Although we could say that Chris was a genius to figure out what this figure was just now based on absolutely no information, since we didn’t actually copy the label text down.
Then again, maybe Chris is actually a genie, since he conjured up an explanation to go with this post at just the right time. And that, I guess, is genius. 😉
*******
As a bonus, either I’m a genius or a genie for realizing that there’s the perfect song to go with this post. Without further ado, here’s the Genie from the Disney musical Aladdin, with his catchy number, Friend Like Me.
This is not the first time that Chris has modeled along with something or someone famous and I’ve always liked them. Keep doing it!
