Today we have a quick follow-up about that potato from last Friday’s post. Unfortunately, I don’t yet have a definitive answer about the small fork and spoon. However, I had forgotten when I wrote the post last week that I’d actually taken a photo of the potato presentation to show you.
That’s the dessert-sized fork and spoon sticking up in the middle. The green stuff on top is parsley for garnish. As you can see, the sour cream sauce oozes like a lava flow from the top of the potato.
You can’t see all of the green salad there in the bowl on the left, but even if you could have seen the whole thing, you wouldn’t have been able to see the potato salad underneath the greens. But trust me – it was there, because it’s always there, even if the salad is being served on the “side” of another kind of potato.
BTW, the beverage you can see to the right is a glass of new wine. It was actually a glass poured from the very last bottle this restaurant had for this year, which the proprieter opened for us (Chris’s glass can be seen off in the background to the left of the salt and pepper shakers. Note that the glass has no stem; what you can’t see in the photo is that the glass is actually in the shape of a mug. Blame the photographer – my focus was on the potato. Well, I was hungry, and I couldn’t start eating until my photo shoot was done. So I wanted it to be done rather quickly.
There’s a reason I rarely take photos in restaurants. I’m just saying.
