I took a photo of some raindrops on a leaf the other day. Based on some of the other experimenting I’ve been doing in my “digital darkroom”, I was curious to see what happens if you start to change things to see what would have happened if the photo had been taken with black and white film, and/or with a filter or tone added. The challenge is to make the raindrops stand out in an interesting way, when a lot of the B&W film tends to make clear drops dark.
BTW, in a couple of the examples below, I have added a pink or “rose-colored” filter. Raindrops on a rose-colored leaves, instead of “raindrops on roses,” might start to be some of my favorite things. Well, at least my favorite things to play with on a rainy day in Tübingen. 😉
Anyway, see what you think.

P.S. The obvious song reference here is My Favorite Things, which was my favorite song when I was a kid and saw the Sound of Music. Most of the clips from the movie are blocked from my viewing here in Germany – you can search for that where you are if you want to see it. In the meantime here’s a link to a clip of Julie Andrews singing that and a few other things in concert.
BTW, I forgot to mention that I was inspired to take a photo of the raindrops in the first place was because of the face they form on that center leaf. But you already guessed that, I’m sure. 😉
