It turns out there is a webcam on a building near the Neckarbrücke that we only recently stumbled across on the internet. I’ve added a link to it on the right side of the Two to Tü homepage where the link to the webcam in the Tübingen Marktplatz is also listed. From the Neckarbrücke webcam you can see a view across the Neckar River with the bridge on your right.  From this vantage point, those colorful “postcard shot” buildings that are by the river — the ones that you can clearly see when you’re standing on the bridge — are mostly obscured by the trees on the Neckarinsel. Perhaps you’ll get a glimpse of them beyond the branches in winter, when the leaves aren’t there. To tide you over until then, here’s a link that will pull up all my  posts that have a “postcard shot” in them. 🙂

Now, if you could turn the webcam to the right and then aim it down the river past where I took that Expected Boatman photo last week, you might be able to see the building shown in the photo below.  I was standing on the little piece of land where I got those recent swan photos, but turned 180º away from the swans.  My best view of this building and its vibrant reflection in the water was through a clump of bushes. It was only possible for me to see this view from one spot; any closer, and the reflection got obscured by bushes and trees between me and the river; any farther and the reflection (from my perspective) completely disappeared. Somehow that burnt orange color of the building reminded me of autumn, even though the greens in the plants and trees revealed the bright, sunny, warm summer day it really was. Such a seemingly rustic setting that it is just steps from the center of town.

Not quite the standard colorful “postcard shot” kind of building we’re accustomed to seeing in a reflection on the Neckar River. But photogenic nonetheless.

  1. The first thing that came to mind was Boathouse Row on the Schuylkill River in Philadelphia. Don’t know why, but something about the bldg. brought it to mind.
