As I was walking through the park here this morning, my eyes fell on a plant bathed in sun and shadow and I had to stop and pull out my pocket camera.
What caught my attention was the shape of the leaf that was a bit hidden underneath other leaves that were closer to me as I walked down the path. I loved the shape of the shadows as well as the shape of the naturally dark negative space. In the gallery below, I’ve included two images; for each, I’ve also included a “lightened” version so you can see that indeed some of the dark shapes are shadows of leaves, while others are actually the dark negative space between the leaves. I’ve been on the lookout for this kind of negative space – while this morning’s example isn’t perfect, it was quite a nice find on a sunny morning. 😉

Elegant!
Wow
This is interesting. I recall this type of shadow/ neg space in earlier post. I think this is an interesting avenue to pursue
Thanks, everybody!
@Kathy, I agree, I have been on the lookout for finding more of these opportunities of light, leaves and shadow. Very intriguing as a project.
