I happened to notice earlier in the week that today’s post would turn out to be the 400th post on Two to TÜ. Yikes – 400 already? Where does the time go?
Ever since then, I’ve been trying to come up with a clever theme for the 400th post. What does 400 have to do with Tübingen? Our life in Europe? Our trip to Heidelberg yesterday? Something else? Anything else? What represents 400?
Maybe it’s the super-hot summer weather we’ve been having, but I’d just been drawing a blank all week
So, this afternoon, after trying and failing to find a good topic related to 400, I took a break and started playing with my new program that allows me to take a digital photo, and mimic the effect as if it had been taken with particular kinds of analog film. There are dozens of film types represented in this program to experiment with, plus you can apply effects during the virtual “printing” of the photo, to add things like sepia tones to a B&W photo, for example.
As I saved some of my little experiments, I suddenly realized that the answer to my blog topic for today was there right in front of me. I thought I’d been randomly selecting film types to play with, since I’d been trying different types of Kodak, Fuji, etc. films.
But then when I looked at my saved images, I discovered that perhaps my selection of the films wasn’t quite as random as I’d thought. All of the films I’d chosen to play with today on the computer have names ending in … 400.
Perfect.
So, I offer the 4 photos below to celebrate the fact that I have now written 400 posts on this blog. The photos seem fitting as a way to represent the eclectic nature of this blog: photography meets serendipity of random discovery in a scene from somewhere in Europe.
A huge thank you to you, all the faithful readers, for allowing me to explore a wide variety of topics over the years here on Two to TÜ!
BTW, I should add that just because i was stuck finding a tie-in to “400” for this post doesn’t mean I’m out of ideas for posts in general. I have a list as long as your arm of topics I’ve been intending write about, actually, and that doesn’t count all the new ones in general that keep popping up.
So, this isn’t the end of the blog by any means. Look for me to start making a dent in that list on Monday, starting with post #401. See you then!
400 already, wow! Can hardly wait for the next 400.
