One of the oldest surviving pieces of film shot in Tübingen is of some circus elephants walking in the Neckar River in the early 1900s. You can see a piece of that film by clicking here; the elephants arrive at the 0:20 second mark.
I bring that up because as I was sorting through some photos I took last fall, I noticed that apparently after their walk by the river they walked over to the Old Botanical Garden.
And stayed there.
I know, I know, that’s not really an elephant’s foot. But that tree bears a strong resemblance to one, IMHO.
It just goes to show that I can see more than just faces in inanimate places. You just never know what’s out there. 😉
That was a very interesting movie. Among other things, I liked seeing that old car pull a little “camper.” And the aerial view of Tubingen reminded me that there is a fortress or something on top of a hill that I haven’t heard much about. Anyway, all that pales before the realistic elephant’s foot with a toenail. You have a very perceptive imagination!
Thanks, Stan! That fortress-looking structure is the castle – which doesn’t look as castle-like as castles elsewhere. 😉
