As I mentioned in March, I’m working on a project called Poétiʞa, which is a collaboration with my friend Maribel, a poet from Spain. Because our travel schedules have been out-of-sync lately, major progress on Poetiʞa is on hold until later this month when we’re both back in the same country. Rest assured we are still working on it.
In the past month, though, Maribel has been busy while she’s been back in Spain. One of her other projects is a blog she writes in Spanish about poetry and literature called BUSCADORES DE PALABRAS. Currently, this blog is entered in a contest on this website: http://www.clubdeescritores.com/concursos/votaciones-blog-literario-2013.html If you would, please take a moment to go there and vote for her. You don’t have to sign up or create an account on the contest website, you can just go, click in the list next to her blog’s name, BUSCADORES DE PALABRAS., and then click the “Vota” button to vote for blog. Thanks in advance for your support!
Maribel was also interviewed about her poetry on a radio station in Zaragosa this month; you can hear a replay of it in a podcast here. She put in a little plug for Poétiʞa and read a couple of the poems aloud, too. Very cool! Kompliment, Maribel! Und vielen Dank für das Gespräch über Poétiʞa!
Yes, I know, you’re probably wondering why I’m writing in German to congratulate her and thank her for mentioning Poétiʞa during the interview. After all, she’s Spanish, I’m American and German is not a first language for either of us. But, while we each speak a little of the other’s native language, we met in German class last year, and we both now speak better “German as a foreign language” than our other foreign language alternatives. So, Poétiʞa — a project involving poems in Spanish which are incorporated into photos taken by an American photographer — is being planned and developed entirely in German. That always strikes me as something that should seem odd to me, but now seems oddly normal.
Anyway, as a bonus for today, here’s a sneak peak at an image from Poétiʞa:
You’ll note the naming scheme for the images is one of the things that still needs to be finished… 😉
Done!
Vielen Dank Lee!. Am Ende Mai können wir uns wieder treffen und mit unsere Poetika weitermachen!. Bis bald und liebe Grüsse!
