On a corner in Tübingen

In going through some photos from last June that I’d never gotten around to posting, I ran across a nice little photo of a building here in Tübingen.

If you start at the upper left of the photo, you’ll see a partial view of an ornate white balcony on the side of a bright yellow building near Chris’ office. Let your eye wander down and to the right, and you’ll deduce that the building sits at an intersection, since there’s a set of traffic lights just in front of it:

Except … once you take in the whole image it turns out that’s not just a straightforward a photo of that building after all, eh?

Once again, I’m amazed at just how clear the reflections often are in the puddles around here. While this puddle doesn’t reveal a “hidden world” behind the puddle, it does fit with my puddle photos that show “a world turned upside down.”

Or, perhaps more accurately, the world in a puddle photo turned upside down.

See you Monday – rightside up or upside down.

  1. Cute, cute, I do see what I guess is water at the bottom left or is that another illusion.

  2. Thanks, Mom. If you see water at the bottom left that is another illusion – it’s actually the pavement. The only water is in the puddle, which shows the reflection is of the building, sky and traffic lights.

  3. Thanks, Kathy! When I saw this photo again months after taking it, I was also fooled even though I took it. Fun!
