After visiting Florida in August, where the waves and the surf can get quite active, the very tame waves in Scarborough hardly seemed like a sea at all. Here it is about as active as we saw while we were there, but I’m sure during a storm the waves could whip right up into something bigger. Also, the signage indicated that at high tide, the surf does occasionally spill over onto the sidewalk and road next to the beach.
