Well, I suppose today’s photos could be used as sort of Rorschach tests, with puddles instead of ink blots to see what you see in them. Personally, I see people. Or at least figures. But that’s probably no surprise, since I have often had a tendency to see faces in inanimate objects. You can see several examples of that from photos from Bolzano on my RedBubble page here.
Here in Tübingen I haven’t been seeing as many faces in objects as I did in back in Bolzano, actually. In fact, Chris was the one who spotted a face in a dumpster the other day before I did.
But recently I keep seeing figures in puddles. For example, look at the photo below. Does that look like the outline of a woman in a dress wearing a hat?
Or how about this next one. From a distance I could see the puddle had a nice reflection of the building next to it, and so pulled out my camera and walked closer. As I approached, suddenly a profile of a head facing to the right appeared:
With the trees for hair, and skin tinged a light mottled blue from the sky, it was a striking thing to see on a gray day in Tübingen.
Enjoy.

Fußball update: in the Euro2012 semi-final match between Germany and Italy last night, Italy triumphed, 2-1. The game was more lopsided than the score would indicate, actually, as Italy dominated the match and played better than the Germans overall. IMHO. 😉 And also based on Chris’ analysis of the matches we’ve watched; he actually does know about this stuff, unlike me who is just learning how to get the most out of watching the matches. Anyway, the final is Sunday night, between Italy and Spain.
I could see both figures. You’ve got us all looking at our surroundings. Another plus for your efforts.
Thanks, Judie! Glad you liked it!
i love this post. Yes puddle people are cool. Did you see my Barnett Newman puddle art from the floor of the Museum of Air and Space Employee parking lot? We are on the same page in some ways Linda.
I really like the second and third one. Romantic figure with green hair. Beautiful creation.
Oh, and the first one is kind of like Magritte.
@Kathy: thanks for the feedback! I’ll have to check out Barnett Newman’s art. I agree, the first one is like a Magritte figure with the “hat”, nad the second one is a romanic, or heroic classic figure to me with that laurel wreath or hair it’s wearing.
