Today I have a recent photo of a favorite fountain of mine here in Tübingen. I pass this fountain frequently on the way to Chris’ office.
Just as I have done with some other photos in the past, including my recent boatmen silhouette photo, I have played with this photo to explore different variations with the color and contrast. My favorite of this attempts is the third, darker one, which I think really captures the “splashing” water in the bowl. See what you think.
I agree, the night version makes the water look like little sparking jewels.
I like the nighttime one very well as the top water pops out against the darker blue. But I like it as shot better. It looks more real. Now that said, we don’t need it to be real. Have you ever tried to take flowing water in the night on a tripod with a slow speed. My photographer instructor does that with flowing water as do a million photo folk. It looks ghostly. I may try that some day.
The water looks so fresh and luscious in your regular picture that I care not for any more technical wonders!
Thanks for the feedback! Mom, I guess you and I vote for the night version and Kathy and Stan are voting for the original. I do like them all, though! Kathy, I haven’t yet tried a tripod with flowing water, but this photo here: http://www.redbubble.com/people/leemcintyre/works/5036554-river-twilight-talvera-river-bolzano-bozen-italy
is one I took handheld, without a tripod, of the flowing river in Bolzano (but taken at slow speed). One of my favorites.
