Playing with Punting

Another beautifully clear weekend, led to a few more nice photos of a punting boat on the Neckar. When the sky is clear, the reflections in the skill Neckar River are really something.

Anyway, here’s a more “closeup” look at a boat:

And here’s one of a man piloting that boat on the river:

Did I make you to a double-take on that photo? I think at first it could look like it’s a regular photo, with the blue sky at the top, a green part of bush or tree “overhanging” into the top of the photo, with houses reflected in the water. But if you look again, you can tell that the top “man” is the upside-down reflection of the real man who is piloting the boat. But the reflection is so clear for everything in the scene, that I think it really is hard to tell at first glance that the photo has been turned upside-down.

Here’s the original:

It really is amazing how clear that reflection is; plus, it’s the sky that’s the brilliant blue, not the water. Both things together, I guess, lead to photos that allowed me to have a little photo fun today.

  1. Those pics are great. Can they qualify for the Steve Jobs exhibit?

  2. Beautiful pictures. I will email you the painting I am doing and ask your opinion about it.
